Our beginning

1977

September 17:

The Presbytery de Cristo issued a call to the Reverend Joe Hawkins to become the organizing pastor of a new Presbyterian congregation in Green Valley.

 

October 23:

The first worship service was conducted in East Social Center with over 125 people in attendance

 

1978

February 5:

Two hundred and twenty-five worshipers met in the West Social Center for the chartering service of Valley Presbyterian.

 

1981

February 1:

The ground breaking ceremony for the new church building was held at the church site in Desert Hills.

 

December 20:

The first service was held in the new building.

 

1982

February 7:

Over 1,000 people attended the formal dedication of the $1.2 million Valley United Presbyterian Church.

 

2002:

The Spiritual Life Center and music offices were completed. 

 

Today

Membership is in excess of 1,700.  Worship attendance averages 1,000
